Dry Tortugas National Park and Key West Bight Museum Grand Opening

Sponsored and presented by Yankee Freedom III, the official ferry of the Dry Tortugas, a high-speed ocean-going catamaran specifically designed for carrying passengers the 70 miles of open water from Key West to the Park; the museum's grand opening celebration will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m.; highlights of the museum include exhibits such as an 11-foot wide model of Fort Jefferson in the late 1800s, an interactive photo mural that tells the history of the Seaport, as well as never-before-published archival images. The Interpretive Center is a free attraction to be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. year-round (closed Christmas Day). It is located in the Thompson Fish House building on Dock C in the Key West Bight at the northern end of Margaret Street.
