It’s that time of year in Key West, when weather reports begin to forecast hot, sunny skies– with a chance of thunderstorms hovering at around 30% daily. Don’t fret! This doesn’t mean you need to start unpacking the board games and scheduling rainy day trips to the movies. Here in the tropics, it’s not unusual for there to be a 30% chance of rain each day. When they do occur, these brief thunderstorms are usually a quick, intense burst of rain that never interrupts the day for very long. In fact, they’re usually quite refreshing! With humidity levels usually hovering around 70%, it can feel like you’re swimming down Duval Street…until a short break of rain swoops in to cool everything down. So when you see the weather report calling for scattered storms, don’t cancel your day at the beach– just bring a dry towel and relax, sit back and enjoy the show. It’ll be over in a minute or two, and that blazing sun will be back to dry you off in a jiffy. It’s the island way!

Break out the SPF…
This week is shaping up to be hot and brutally humid, with temperatures expected to stay within the 80′s and the humidity forecasted at almost 80%! The perfect week to take a stroll down to the waterfront and hop onto one of the day boats heading out on the water, or to enjoy a classic cuban coffee– iced, of course! Your concierge friends at the front desk have a list of the perfect sunny day activities for you and your loved ones to enjoy. Just remember to load up on the sunblock and stay hydrated. For a day at the beach, nothing beats Fort Zachary Taylor, Key West’s favorite beach. With opportunities for picnicking, swimming, snorkeling, fishing, hiking and more, it’s a wonderful place to take advantage of these pristine, sweltering days! Today’s Weather at Parrot KeyWe have been seeing unseasonable cold weather the last couple of days, with nighttime temperatures falling below 60°F two nights in a row, but starting today it should start to warm up again. It is currently 61°F at Parrot Key, but is expected to hit 70°F by midday. Tonight should be around 63°F and by tomorrow things should be back around 75°F. Anyone prepared for cold and windy ocean conditions can be expected to have great fishing tomorrow through the weekend, as fish get more energetic with the warming weather. Sunset tonight is at 6:20 pm, expect festivities at Mallory Square to start around 5:00. Today’s Weather at Parrot KeyIt’s 77°F and hazy right now at Parrot Key Hotel and Resort, but patches of blue sky can be seen on the horizon. We predicted to get scattered showers of warm rain for the next couple of days, before it clears up to the more usual blue winter sky. There is a very light wind from the north right now and small chop out in the open ocean, but close to Key West the water is calm. Sunset tonight will be at 5:57 pm, and with the low pressure system coming in should provide amazing colors. Today’s Weather at Parrot KeyIt’s 75°F and partly cloudy right now at Parrot Key, but the sun looks like it is burning off the clouds and more blue sky is visible by the hour. The forecast looks like we finally are getting out from under the rain for at least a week, the weather is predicted to be sun and mid 70′s temperature until late next week. Sunset tonight is at 6:49 pm, and with the low laying clouds predicted for late this afternoon, should be spectacular. Today’s Weather at Parrot KeyThe rain has abated, for today at least, and been replaced with a an almost perfect Key West fall day. The sky is overcast and it’s 71°F, which is expected to last for the next two days until the rain returns again. Tonight and Saturday will be the best for going out at the Goombay festival, sunday is expected to be stormy. The ocean is particularly vibrant looking right now, with all the sand still stirred up from the last couple days reflecting sunlight. Sunset tonight will be at 6:52 and should be gorgeous. Today’s Weather at Parrot KeyIt’s 84°F and sunny right now at Parrot Key, with a light wind from the south. The weather should be nice, reaching the 90′s in the next two days, before getting a little stormy this weekend. The rough weather should pass by pretty quickly though and get back to sun for all of next week. Sunset tonight will be at 7:03 pm, look for sunset festival performers to start around 5:00 pm in Mallory Square. Today’s Weather at Parrot KeyIt’s 88°F and sunny right now at Parrot Key, with some light winds dying down as the day ends. This week will be pretty stormy, but with a couple of sunny days mixed in as the week ends. There is a chance things will be clearing up for all of next week, but this time of year its important to keep track of storms which can change course very quickly. Tonight sunset is at 7:30, festivities at mallory square will be starting around 5:30 pm. Today’s Weather At Parrot KeyIt’s 83°F and partly sunny right now in Key West, but there is another week of rain and scattered thunderstorms predicted for the rest of the week. This stormy weather is pretty typical for this time of year, but it doesn’t look like anything to frightening is coming this week. The high pressure coming through should make tonight pleasantly breezy and a little bit cooler. Today’s Weather at Parrot KeyIt’s 89°F and partly sunny right now at Parrot Key, great weather for one last day at the pool before the stormy week ahead. There are supposed to be thunder storms and rain for the next week, although temperatures will remain in the high 80′s. Wind and rain are expected on and off for at least 10 days, although depending on the hurricane situation that could be shorter or longer.
