Key West this weekend

There’s so much to do this weekend here in Key West! And we don’t mean the usual how-many-different-rum-drinks-can-you-try-in-one-evening kind of events…we mean some show stopping cultural happenings that are guaranteed to knock your socks off.

First off, you’ll definitely want to head over to Fort Zachary Taylor today to catch the Pirate Invasion: kids and adults will love seeing this Historic State Park transformed into a British stronghold defending its shores against an invasion of pirates! Featuring pirate encampments, living history demonstrations, live battles, activities for the kids, and more, this event runs from 10 am. to 5 p.m. daily and is a riotous good time.

Also at Fort Zach, catch the first installment of Sculpture Key West. You’ll love wandering through the park, exploring the large-scale works of art that have been installed throughout the grounds. These artworks come from award-winning artists from across the globe; to learn more, visit http://sculpturekeywest.org/

Finally, this weekend is home to the Art! Key West festival, with exhibitions, live demonstrations, special culinary events, parties and more: visit www.artskeywest.com for the full schedule.

Have fun, and always remember our friendly front desk agents here at Parrot Key Hotel and Resort are more than happy to suggest events, give directions, make reservations or advise you on whether or not your pirate costume is up to par before you head over to Fort Zach.

Just remember: it’s pronounced Arrrrrrrrt.
