Celebrate the Kentucky Derby Key West-Style, with the Tropic Theatre’s “Derby Day” Party
Gentlemen, get out your seersucker suits and ladies, brush off your most fabulous hats: it’s Derby Day at the Tropic Theatre! Buy your tickets now to come celebrate the 138th running of the Kentucky Derby and the 2nd annual Derby Day at the Tropic, Key West’s favorite independent movie theatre.
This see-and-be-seen event is always a fabulous party– and it’s for a good cause! From 3:30 – 7 p.m. the big race will be shown on the big screen along with plenty of Derby fun, including a hat contest, games of chance, and of course, mint juleps. Partial proceeds benefit the Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice of the Florida Keys.
Tickets are $50 per person and can be purchased at the Tropic Box Office (416 Eaton Street) or online. Space is limited, so get yours now!

Beginning tonight: The WORLD PREMIERE of Home Exchange, a new play by Hy Conrad
From the writer of the Emmy-winning television series Monk and White Collar comes a new play that will leave audiences crazed for more. Join Key West’s Waterfront Playhouse for the world premiere of Home Exchange, now in previews and open to the public.
What happens when a home-exchange between strangers leads to a shocking discovery? A producer of TV crime shows exchanges her Manhattan apartment with a couple from England…to mixed, mysterious and hilarious results. Called “A suspenseful comedy in the mold of Deathtrap but with a bit of Rear Window thrown in for fun,” this fast-moving show will have you at the edge of your seat and calling for more.

Key West Songwriter’s Festival is happening now!

The Key West Songwriter’s Festival is currently under way, and the line-up for the next few days looks outstanding. With performances at some of the island’s best restaurants and venues, this event is sure to keep your ears happy.
